HLC’s Woonsocket, RI facility is designed with healthy development in mind. The spacious and open classrooms provide adequate space for appropriate learning to take place. Teachers at Hamlet Learning Center provide a high quality early childhood education with an individualized approach for each child. Students are actively engaged in their environment and activities are designed to include skill practice for those outlined in the Rhode Island Early Learning Standards and the Creative Curriculum which are incorporated at HLC. The Rhode Island Early Learning Standards defines curriculum as the framework for the philosophy, goals and expectations for guiding children’s learning and engaging families in their children’s development. It is basically what takes place in the classroom from the materials and equipment to the learning activities and communications between teachers, children and families. The Creative Curriculum for Preschool is a nationally recognized curriculum written by Diane Trister Dodge, Laura Colker and Cate Heroman. It is a ‘blueprint for planning and implementing developmentally appropriate practice’ with young children.
